Sound Design

Making the story heard.

From the quietest background detail to a show-stopping moment, I create and program sound effects, atmospheres, and playback cues that help bring live theater to life.

The Work Behind the Sound

Built for the Story. Designed for the Stage.

The right sound can make a room feel bigger, a moment feel closer, or a scene feel completely different. My theatrical work combines creative sound design with the technical side of making it happen live.

Soundscapes & Effects

Editing and shaping environmental sounds, atmospheres, transitions, and story-specific effects.

QLab & Show Playback

Organizing and programming performance-ready cues, timed transitions, fades, and playback workflows.

Immersive Routing

Thinking beyond a single speaker to place effects where they make sense for the scene and the audience.

Bring Your Show to Life

Sound effects, atmospheric design, and show-ready playback for the stage.

These are stage productions presented at the Nechita Center for the Arts at Orange Lutheran High School. Credits reflect my work on these productions, not their Broadway or touring versions.

Behind the Sound

Featured Sound Design Projects

Two productions that pushed my sound design work in different directions: building an immersive cathedral world, and creating larger-than-life character sounds and detailed show playback.

Featured Production / 2025

The Hunchback of Notre Dame

Immersive effects & theatrical environments.

Designing the sonic world of Notre Dame meant more than simply pressing play. I mapped layered atmospheres and dramatic effects around the action, using QLab cue programming and surround-speaker routing to create a sense of place and scale.

  • Cathedral bells, marketplace and crowd atmospheres
  • Fire, mob and dramatic transition effects
  • Scene-specific cue timing and immersive speaker placement
  • Isolated bell cues planned around dialogue and transitions, without doubling effects already in the music

Featured Production / 2026

Into the Woods

Custom effects, character voices & intricate playback.

For Into the Woods, I built custom sound effects and theatrical audio moments, then shaped how they played through QLab. That included recording and transforming the Giant’s voice and refining the timing and flow of the production’s playback.

  • Recorded and processed the Giant’s voice with pitch, formant, low-end and spatial effects
  • Bird calls, magical moments and character-driven effects
  • Layered sound elements and synchronized QLab cue groups
  • Playback editing and script-aligned timing adjustments

Every effect has a purpose. The creative work is in designing the sound—and the technical work is making it land at exactly the right moment, in the right place, during a live performance.
